CORPUS CHRISTI - An 18-year old man is behind bars this morning after leading police on a chase that ended in a neighborhood near Ayers and Sunnybrook.
Police say they had information that Arturo Bazan had narcotics on him, so he was under surveillance. He took off when an officer tried to pull him over.
The car chase came to an abrupt stop when Bazan crashed into a ditch along Dodd Street. Police say he dropped a pistol and an extra magazine as he ran off.
Officers called for help from a K9 unit to track the man down, but he was found within 15 minutes hiding underneath a home.
The chase made many people in the neighborhood scared for their safety.
"The kids are out here playing, you know so, for him to speeding around here that fast... thank God he hit that ditch," said witness Rudy Bernal.
Bazan is charged with evading arrest and possession of drugs.
