Police: Smartphone Thieves Unintentionally Take Selfies

ARANSAS PASS - Police are looking for a couple of cell phone thieves who unintentionally snapped selfies while trying to access the phone.

The victim was eating at a local restaurant on January 29th and left his phone behind. He had no luck finding the phone when he came back.

However, the newer phone had the Lookout Security app installed. It automatically takes a photo of anyone who enters the wrong passcode 5 times or more. The photos of the two men were emailed as an alert to the rightful owner.

If you have any information on the identities of these men, call the Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-245-TIPS. Reference case #1400001772 when leaving a tip.
