Police Say Pedestrian Was Lying In the Middle of the Road When Hit

CORPUS CHRISTI -- Police say a woman hit by a truck may have been lying in the middle of the road.

It happened on Norton at Miami earlier this evening.

Officers tell us the driver of the truck ran over both of the woman's legs.

At last check she was in critical condition.

Police say, the woman's friends told them she was depressed and lying in the middle of the road on purpose.

The driver will not be cited for the accident.

A neighbor -- who didn't want to be identified -- says he saw the chaotic scene when he pulled up to his driveway.

He said, "Yeah it's pretty freaky you know because the kids were just out here playing 30 minutes ago. So, it's just pretty scary and it's too close for comfort."

Police are still investigating the accident to figure out exactly what happened before the woman was hit.
