CORPUS CHRISTI -- A local man is behind bars after his grandfather told police he threatened to cut his head off. The incident happened near Linden and Sherwood.
Police arrested James Wilmot, 32, Sunday afternoon after his 82-year-old grandfather told police the grandson threatened him as he was using a chainsaw to cut a tree stump.
According to the police report Wilmot was armed with a sheetrock knife when he told the grandfather, "If you don't stop that I'm going to cut your head off."
The initiall for help said the suspect was armed with a sword, but the report from officers say it was just a sheetrock knife.
Police say after being threatened the grandfather Arne got in his car and came here to Sherwood Park to wait for officers and get away from his grandson.
Police reports state that the grandfather told officers, "His grandson uses drugs and he feared for his life when threatened."
Once officers arrived they noticed the door to the home was open when they went inside they found Wilmot sitting on the couch talking on the phone. Police say they did a sweep through the house to see if anyone else was there.
The officer reported they found "two baggies with what appeared to be 'meth,' 1 scale, 2 glass pipes, 2 jewelry bags and 1 knife with a hook at the end of it."
Wilmot was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and additional drug charges. He's being held in Nueces County jail on a $30,000 bond.
