Police Officer's Cruiser Rear-Ended

CORPUS CHRISTI - A 40-year-old woman is charged with driving while intoxicated for crashing into the back of a police car early this morning on Saratoga.

A Corpus Christi police officer and an ambulance had stopped along the road to help someone who had suffered a medical emergency around 2 a.m.

As soon as a Chevy Camaro hit the back of the police car, officers checked on Jennifer Medellin Alanis and had her taken to the hospital to be checked out for injuries. Staff also collected a blood specimen to be tested for alcohol or drugs.

No one else was injured. Alanis is now in the Nueces County Jail.
