CORPUS CHRISTI - While police investigate four tire thefts in Corpus Christi, they're offering people advice on protecting their vehicles.
Lt. Chris White, with the police department's Auto Theft Task Force said people should consider getting a motion-sensor car alarm or lug nuts, which lock down tires and rims so they can't come off. Lt. White stated it's best to lock your vehicle in the garage. If you have a driveway, it's also a good idea to install a security camera; if anyone steals your tires, police have some evidence of the crime.
Police said the reason we've been hearing so much about tire thefts lately is because it's profitable.
"When you look at the replacement cost of factory tires and rims, you're looking at anywhere from $300-500 a tire," explained Lt. White.
