CORPUS CHRISTI -- Earlier this afternoon, police were hot on the trail of a man accused of theft at Chico's on South Alameda.
Officers chased the speeding car...but lost it.
They later found it at a parking lot on Annapolis and Staples, but the man inside wasn't the person they wanted.
Police say he just got in the car after he let the suspect borrow it.
He didn't fit the suspect's description and didn't seem to know about the theft.
Officers are still searching for the thief tonight.
