CORPUS CHRISTI --Police have located the Jeep Wrangler they say was involved in a hit and run crash with a motorcycle on Monday. The crash left the rider with a broken leg. Police say they were able to track down the Jeep using pieces of evidence found at the scene.
Maria Sauceda, a neighbor said she watched as police staked out the car owner's home waiting to spot the vehicle. "We had cops parked here and a cop parked down the street," Maria said.
"The jeep was in the garage," Maria said. She told us she didn't notice any obvious damage to the vehicle herself. The vehicle towed to the police impound lot yesterday had obvious damage to the passenger side, as well as a shredded left rear tire.
Maria said the Jeep was at the home the whole time but the car owner wasn't. "I guess he got home from work and then they came, they were ready for the tow truck came and pulled the Jeep out of the garage," Maria said.
Police have not made any arrests in this case. They said, they need more evidence to prove who was behind the wheel the night of the wreck.
"I saw the cops video taping the street I'm guessing he was looking at the skid marks," Maria said.
Police will continue sifting through evidence. Officers said the driver could face a charge of accident involving personal injury or death.
