Police Identify Man They Believe Crashed Into Police Car

CORPUS CHRISTI - Police released the name of the man, they say, slammed his truck into a police cruiser early yesterday morning. Police booked 23-year-old Winfred Ware on charges of intoxication assault and evading arrest on foot.

A public information officer said Ware cruised through the light at Morgan and Staples and hit the police car going through that intersection. An officer and prisoner in that car received minor injuries but are expected to be OK. Police said they later caught up with Ware who fled the scene of the crash.
