CORPUS CHRISTI - Corpus Christi police officers armed with rifles were patrolling the 1000 block of Deforrest Street looking for a possible suspect in a home invasion this afternoon.
The 24-year-old homeowner, identified by family as Nick Kelley, showed up at an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
He told police he was shot when he walked in on a home invasion at his own place. At least two shots were fired during the incident.
We're hearing the homeowner was shot with his own weapon by an intruder wearing a ski mask.
Officers did arrive at the home to find the back door wide open.
Kelley lives at the home with his wife and two children who were not home at the time.
