CORPUS CHRISTI - Police say they have determined the Deforrest Street resident who says he was shot by burglar at his home on Monday fabricated his story. Investigators will be turning over the results of their case to the District Attorney, but tell us there was no intruder and no aggravated assault.

24-year-old Nicholas Kelley told police on Monday he came home to find the front door of his house unlocked and he came face to face with a man carrying his gun. Kelley claims he was shot in the shoulder by the ski mask wearing man who then dropped the gun and ran.

Police say the wife claimed she left the door unlocked when she went to a convenience store. She told officers she came home to find Kelley on the floor and rushed him to a nearby hospital.

Officers searched the home and neighborhood on Monday, but found nothing.
