CORPUS CHRISTI - Police filed charges against a man who claimed to be the victim of a shooting and burglary at his home on Deforrest St.
On Monday, Nick Kelley showed up at an area hospital with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. He told police that he walked in on a burglary in progress, struggled with the supposed burglar and was shot.
Yesterday, police said Kelley was being untruthful and that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. It's still not clear how Kelley managed to shoot himself or why he did it.
Police charged him with filing a false report to a police officer which is a Class "B" Misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
