Police: Burglary Suspect Hits Victim With Shovel

CORPUS CHRISTI - A neighbor stands accused of aggravated robbery for hitting a man with a shovel when he tried to stop a break-in of his truck.

The victim came out to confront the 45-year-old seen breaking into his Dodge Dakota on Peabody Avenue, according to police.

The suspect reportedly picked up a shovel and started beating the man. The victim was unable to defend himself due to unrelated injuries.

When officers showed up the suspect was hiding behind a house and took off on a short foot pursuit.

Police say the suspect, Quincy Gilford, lives just down the street. According to online court records, he has a lengthy history of arrests for drugs, assault, robbery, and other offenses dating back to 1986.
