CORPUS CHRISTI - A car chase that started over in Portland came to a chaotic conclusion in Corpus Christi near Gollihar and Kostoryz, today, where a man and woman in the car crashed into a fire hydrant. Six news was there when police caught up with the driver.

"If you have enough energy to craw under a house, you have enough energy to walk to a car," police said as they walked their suspect to their car.

Police say David Garcia led them on a chase from Portland to a neighborhood near Gollihar and Kostoryz. Portland Police said it started as a simple traffic stop but quickly turned into a chase when the man and woman in the car refused to pull over.

Portland Police followed the gold Mitsubishi over the Harbor Bridge where they say the driver threw a shot gun out of the window. Once over the bridge, Corpus Christi Police joined the pursuit.

They followed the car on the Crosstown Expressway to Gollihar but called off their pursuit when the driver sped through a school zone. A short time later, however, the driver slammed the car into a fire hydrant on Gollihar and Moravian and then ran off on foot.

Police say the woman in the car was casually walking away from the car but witnesses pointed her out to officers. Meanwhile, police tracked down Garcia who was driving the car. They found him hiding under a house on the 4300 block of Crane.

"Stay inside the house... Stay inside the house!" police exclaimed to a woman frightened by the action surrounding her home. Eventually police came out with David Garcia and charged him with evading arrest. As for this woman, police haven't released her name but say, for now, they haven't charged her with anything.
