CORPUS CHRISTI - Police have filed charges of assault on public servant, evading arrest and resisting arrest against the 27-year-old grandson of a woman found in a shallow grave last night behind her home on Bentwood in Corpus Christi.
According to neighbors, David Christy fled the home before police stopped by at the request of Johanna Christy's son who lives in San Antonio.
The son told police he talks to his disabled mother every day, but was unable to get a hold of her. When officers arrived at the home they found her car in the driveway, but no one answered the door.
Police later caught up with the grandson at the Dolphin's Landing apartment complex on Weber Road around 8:30 p.m.
Officers found the shallow grave in the backyard with the help of a police dog. Even after the body was removed from the property around 2 a.m. police were still referring to the investigation as a missing persons case.
The Nueces County Medical Examiner's office says the body of Johanna Christy has not been examined yet.
