DENTON - A North Texas pharmacist has been charged with selling prescription drugs from her home after her business closed.

The Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday that Esther Chinedozi Amaka of Arlington is charged with diverting controlled substances. Denton police last month raided her residence.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Amaka, who was booked Feb. 13 and released the following day on $50,000 bond.

State regulators say narcotics turned up missing from a Denton pharmacy before Express Rx closed in 2012 at its licensed location. Amaka, who's listed as the owner and head pharmacist, allegedly then dispensed drugs from her home.

The Texas State Board of Pharmacy has suspended Amaka's licenses as a pharmacist and for her store. Board officials say Amaka has denied intentional wrongdoing.
