HOUSTON - A member of the U.S. Coast Guard from League City, Texas plead guilty this morning to using a government issued credit card to buy a skydiving parachute and accessories for himself.

Prosecutors say 32-year-old Petty Officer First Class Gavino Ortiz III not only racked up $2,678.91 in charges for the equipment, but he also used the same card to make additional purchases totaling $230,468.

He faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000 when sentenced in March. Ortiz is free on bond until sentencing.
