John Paul II baseball player Joey Perez has big baseball dreams, and one of those dreams came true for him Wednesday.
Perez signed a Division One scholarship offer from Oral Roberts University, becoming the first athlete in the school's history to sign a college letter of intent.
Perez was 6-2 as a pitcher last season, but also hit 16 home runs for the Centurions. He's part of the school's first senior class and says he's ready for the next challenge.
"Since I was six years old, it's always been my dream to play college baseball, and then from there go on to the pros," he said. "I already got one step down. Hopefully, I can get that second step down."

It is always nice to hear that a student has excelled in academics or sports. The truth to the whole matter is that a teacher or coach has worked hard with that particular individual through out their high school years.
Parents push their kids to be better and work with them all 17 - 18 years to get scholarships. It is through the help of counselors and coaches that this accomplishments are met. Thank your parents, counselors, teachers, coaches, administrators and anyone else that was part of your life to help you succeed in accomplishing this goal.
