CORPUS CHRISTI - Thousands of people ran the 5K "Color Me Rad" race today down by Whataburger Field. Runners wear a white shirt to the race and are pummeled with colored powder throughout the 5 kilometers.
A portion of the proceeds from the race benefits the Ronald McDonald House in Corpus Christi. The colored powder is a non-toxic non-rash-inducing colored corn starch. Although it may take a few washes, it does eventually come out of your hair.
Chris Ewart, a runner in the race, said, "It doesn't taste good but you deal with it because it's a festive atmosphere."
Another runner, Gale Slivka, said, "It was amazing. It was really fun, exciting, lots of adrenaline, a lot of people, a good turnout. Really, Really fun!"
