FIJI - At least 3,500 people have evacuated to emergency shelters in Fiji as the largest cyclone tore through the county today.

This evacuation happened after Cyclone Evan killed four people in Samoa, and caused severe damage to the country.

Many homes in Fiji have already been destroyed.

The Fiji weather bureau said Cyclone Evan is now a category four storm, the second highest level.

It is moving at a very slow rate of about 18kph (11mph), and the destructive wind could last several hours.

Some wind gusts have been reported at 170mph.
