PORT ARANSAS - Former Texas Workforce Commission Chairman and Port Aransas resident Tom Pauken pulled the plug on his campaign for the Republican nomination for Texas governor.
He announced his candidacy in July, but with the filing deadline a few days away, Pauken announced via press release that it was unrealistic for him to continue his campaign.
He specifically cited lack of financial and organizational support. In a statement, Pauken said that while he still feels Texas needs a new style of leadership he believes now is the not right time for him to run for governor.
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is considered to be the front-runner for the Republican nomination in next year's primary.
