CORPUS CHRISTI - A local man who had back surgery is speaking out after learning his doctor is on trial, accused of botching a procedure in another state.

X-rays show where the spinal fusion surgery was done on Robin Griffin's lower back. He said his surgery was performed three months ago by Dr. Stefan Konasiewicz, who's under fire for alleged malpractice in Minnesota.

Now he wants to get a second opinion, especially after learning of Dr. Konasiewicz's past. Griffin says he feels deceived because he even tried searching the Texas Medical Board website for complaints against Dr. Konasiewicz and nothing turned up.

Griffin said he wouldn't have had the surgery at the South Texas Brain and Spine Center if he had known about the doctor's past.

Now he's stuck with a walker and has trouble getting around. And he's left with this scar by a doctor who is still allowed to operate in the Coastal Bend.
