Parents React To Cunningham M.S. Fight Video

CORPUS CHRISTI - Video of an alleged assault at Cunningham Middle School has drawn more attention to the issue of bullying. We showed the fight video to parents picking their kids up after school at Cunningham Middle School and they didn't hesitate when we asked if they thought the school had a bullying problem.
One parent, Angie Asebedo, said, "I believe that there needs to be something done because the kids are just getting worse and the kids are getting hurt a lot."
The video was sent to us anonymously by a viewer who said they were concerned about what it showed. One of the parents we showed the video to wasn't really shocked by it.
Asebedo said, "I see it going on all the time. I think it's ridiculous that kids are doing that and thinking that it's funny also."
Another parent, Irma Delafuent, said, "Maybe kids are afraid to let us know what's going on in their schools. He," she said referring to her son, "never talks about it about anything like this but this is real bad."
The school is disciplining the girl who started the fight but, still, parent's think more needs to be done. "maybe they can come up with something so they can crack down on it because it's getting really bad kids are getting hurt," said Asebedo.
After all, they say this kind of violence at schools isn't something new but, still, happens all too often.
Police say the attacker could face charges for assault and making a terroristic threat. She's been suspended and the district has recommended that she be placed in an alternative school.
The victim had several injuries including some big lumps on the back of her head.
