Parents Can Never Claim Baby Left in Shoebox at Church

ALICE - The parents of the baby abandoned at the front door of a church in Alice have lost their parental rights. The newborn girl dubbed 'Baby Angel' was found inside a shoebox at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in June 2012.

Investigators were never able to find the mother and father of the baby. However, a judge in Jim Wells County ruled today that if they ever did come forward they would not be able to claim the child.

Child Protective Services says the now one year old girl is doing well in the care of a foster family. Today's hearing clears the way for that same family to start the adoption process.
