Packed Memorial Service for Benjamin Mustafa

CORPUS CHRISTI - Several hundred people gathered to remember Benjamin Mustafa, the convenience store owner who was shot and killed during a robbery last week.

A memorial service for the 59-year-old was held at Bay Area Fellowship's campus on Rodd Field Road last night. Mustafa was a member of that congregation for 10 years.

Pastor Bil Cornelius told us that Mustafa treated everyone like family. That's a sentiment echoed by his friends.

"Mustafa was always smiling. He was always in a sense of community. He always felt obligated to the people he would come in contact with. He always took on the role of provider and helper. And I felt that a lot of people could count on him as a friend, as a father, as brother, as an uncle," said family friend Fared Shafinury.

Three suspects remain jailed on capital murder charges for the shooting at Tim's Market.
