CORPUS CHRISTI - The Occupational Health and Safety Administration is now investigating yesterday's accident that left two construction workers trapped under a slab of concrete for more than an hour.
The employees of Reytec Construction were cutting on a piece of concrete when it collapsed and pinned their legs below the knees.
The men, ages 39 and 58, were freed by construction workers who cut apart the slab.
According to the company's vice president, one victim has a broken ankle and is expected to have surgery soon. The employee will be in the hospital for a few more days.
The other man had some cuts on his leg, but no broken bones. He's expected to be released tomorrow.
An OSHA representative wouldn't release many details, but did say investigators were at the scene today. OSHA has up to 6 months to conduct and complete its investigation.
