CORPUS CHRISTI - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined Citgo refining for exposing workers to hazardous materials at it's facilities in Corpus Christi.
OSHA issued citations for 5 safety violations in connection with an incident that exposed workers to hydrofluoric acid. The agency has proposed penalties totaling more than $66,000.
In part, OSHA says the company did not have proper safeguards in place to protect employees from the release of toxic chemicals. As a result employees at the facility and the surrounding community were placed in danger.
