CORPUS CHRISTI - A judge sentenced 19-year-old Dahlton Osborn to 13 years in prison for killing a man walking along the beach earlier this year.
Osborn plead guilty to intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. He ran over a man and woman walking along the beach after he spent the day partying at a bonfire with friends.
The woman survived with a fractured leg, but her husband, 41-year-old Adam Reed, died of his injuries.
Both Osborn and the widow gave statements after the judge read the sentence.
"I have a little girl that... she misses her daddy. She just wants him there," Reed's widow told the court.
Osborn said, "I understand that you've lost a father, a husband and I have to live my life every day and know that because of my stupidity, Mr. Reed passed away."
Since the charge includes the use of a deadly weapon, Osborn will have to serve at least half of his 13-year sentence before he's eligible for parole.
