COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) An Oregon man who police say shot his wife after hiding in her car reportedly had a history of abusive behavior.
Authorities say Travis Kendall shot his wife in the back after she met with a divorce lawyer.
The Coos Bay World reports that the 26-year-old Kendall had been arrested before for domestic harassment and violating a restraining order, and an ex-girlfriend had filed restraining orders. He had also been convicted of car theft and burglary.
His 22-year-old wife, Ashley, is in critical condition. Her family says she is "fighting for her life."
Investigators believe Travis Kendall drove to the attorney's office and hid in his wife's car while she was inside. The wounded woman's body was later found on a street.
Authorities say Kendall later killed himself after a confrontation with police.
