Oil Spilled Along Old Brownsville Road

CORPUS CHRISTI - Drivers on Old Brownsville and Saratoga were put in a slippery situation when crude oil was discovered on the road.

The Corpus Christi Fire Department came out to investigate after receiving calls of cars slipping on the road. The truck responsible left the scene and a trail of oil between a quarter to a half a mile long.

Fire crews put down about 20 bags of absorbnt to soak up the oil, but it still wasn't enough to make the road safe.

Traffic was diverted to alternate routes as TxDOT crews from Corpus Christi and Robstown brought in sand trucks to absorb the oil.
