PORTLAND - Crews will begin phase two of the clean up for an oil leak in Portland.
About 10 days ago, workers discovered oil seeping from a storage tank at a facility on Sunset Drive. They are not sure how long it had been leaking, but they have spent the past several days removing any soil that might be contaminated.
Sometime this week, they will replace the soil and repair the faulty tank.
"The tank batteries are the name of vessels themselves. Vessel holding the product it leaked or corroded and leached into the soil," says Brian Delatte, Portland of Public Works and Development.
City officials say the leak is small and will not have any significant impact on residents, or the environment.
The Texas Railroad Commission is also assisting helping with the clean-up.
