HOUSTON (AP) - The Harris County Sheriff's Office says it has arrested 23 prostitutes and 76 of their customers after a three-week sex trafficking sweep.
The office announced Wednesday the arrests occurred between July 17 and Aug. 3. It says undercover officers helped make the arrests.
Five of the arrested people were charged with drug-related offenses. Two people were charged with criminal trespassing and another with resisting arrest.
Names of the people arrested and the other charges filed have not been released.
The office says the arrests are part of a national campaign called National Day of Johns Arrests that began in 2011.
