DALLAS (AP) - Dallas police have detained a person of interest in the shooting of an off-duty officer working security at an apartment complex.
Police say Sr. Cpl. Officer Matthew Wagner is hospitalized in stable condition after being shot twice early Tuesday. Chief David Brown says Wagner was shot in the arm and the torso and is expected to recover.
Police on Tuesday afternoon announced a person of interest has been detained for questioning. Further details were not immediately released.
Wagner and another off-duty officer were questioning a man in a van when a struggle broke out and the suspect began firing. The second officer wasn't hurt. Police have recovered a gun allegedly used in the shooting.
