CORPUS CHRISTI - An undercover officer may have prevented a child from being stolen from a car parked in front of the Central Library.
The off-duty officer was walking down the sidewalk this afternoon when he noticed a car running, with a baby by herself in the backseat.
The officer says he waited by the car for about eight minutes until the child's father returned to the car. He told the officer he was inside the library returning a book.
That man was cited for leaving a child in an unattended vehicle and he could face a fine of up to $500.
