ODEM - A high school football player for the Odem Owls is recovering from a lacerated liver. According to the Athletic Director in Odem, 16-year-old Hunter Rodriguez was hit in the side by a player's cleats when making a tackle.
Rodriguez was just moved out of the intensive care unit at a hospital in the Rio Grande Valley where he's now in a regular room. He could be discharged by the end of the week.
Other parents have started raising money for the boy's family who plan to stay with Rodriguez until he's out of the hospital.
