CORPUS CHRISTI - Beginning this month, residential and commercial utility bills from the City of Corpus Christi will start showing the Street Maintenance Fee listed as a separate item. Don't freak out. You're not being charged the fee just yet.
The city says the item will be included to help customers plan for the added costs of the fee when it goes into effect in January.
In a news release the Valerie Gray, Director of Street Operations, says "It will also allow for discrepancies to be addressed and for residents to apply for the Low Income Discount before billing takes place in January."
The monthly rates for residential customers set by city council are:
Home - $5.38
Multi-family residential (apartments, condos, townhomes, mobile homes, manufactured homes, & RV parks) - $2.42
The rate for commercial accounts is based on several factors, including square footage
