CORPUS CHRISTI- Nueces county officials are working on a plan for aerial spraying if we get a high number of west nile virus cases.
At Wednesday's commissioners court meeting, county officials worked on a memorandum of understanding with the health department to lay the groundwork for an aerial spraying plan.
It's been about 20 years since Nueces county has done aerial spraying to fight mosquitoes.
County and health officials decided it would be best to have a plan on standby because of a large outbreak of West Nile virus in North Texas last year.
The plan is still in its preliminary stages.
Wednesday was the first public discussion on the matter.
