DALLAS (AP) - City officials in Dallas and Fort Worth are preparing for a possible white Christmas, while along the Gulf Coast, meteorologists warn tornados and severe thunderstorms could strike.
Dallas officials say in a statement they will have emergency crews monitoring roads overnight Christmas Eve and throughout Christmas Day. The crews will assess conditions and be ready to apply sand and salt if necessary/
Meteorologists say rain could turn into snow as the weather drops later Tuesday. The ground in Dallas and Fort Worth may be too warm for the snow to accumulate, but areas along the Texas border with Oklahoma could see several inches of powder.
Further south, the cold front could meet the warm, humid air hanging over the area Monday and early Tuesday, triggering thunderstorms and tornados.
