CORPUS CHRISTI -- A newly-released video gives an animated look at what the proposed Destination Bayfront project will look like when it is completed.

The video, released during Mayor Nelda Martinez' first State of the City address Thursday morning, begins with an aerial view of the city's bayfront and zooms into various parts of the park which includes sprawling lawns, picnic tables, water fountains and eateries.

"We [organizers] certainly hope they'll approve it because this is a plan that has been developed with a tremendous amount of input from the community over the last several years. and we tried to give them - all the city council members - previews of this, and they've all been very supportive," said co-organizer Trey McCampbell.

McCampbell said organizers will release an estimated cost and construction timeline at their presentation to city council Feb. 19. The council is expected to decide what to do with the project at another meeting about a week later.

A previous estimate put the construction costs at $72 million.
