CORPUS CHRISTI - Mark Baker was scheduled to be released from jail this afternoon based on new evidence leading detectives working a homicide investigation in a new direction.
Earlier today, Baker appeared before Judge Jose Longoria for the alleged murder of Samuel Moore. Baker's bond was set at $500,000.
That's now out the window as the District Attorney's office says they have new evidence.t
According to police, Moore died after being stabbed in the heart by a man he thought had robbed him on Tuesday night. He later died at the hospital.
Court documents state the woman who identified Baker as the suspect had come to the scene to give Moore and his friend a ride. She told officers she recognized the man seen at the stabbing scene and she picked his photo out of a lineup of six white males.
Baker was arrested Thursday while working at Timon's Ministries in Flour Bluff as a cook.
We'll have more on this story as it becomes available.
