CORPUS CHRISTI - Almost four years after the Las Colonias neighborhood flooded, residents are still worried the same thing could happen all over again.
Back in September 2010, houses in the Westside neighborhood were several inches deep in water.
Water was several feet deep in the streets outside; cars were almost submerged in water.
It's something Simon Hernandez doesn't want to deal with again, even though he's convinced that at some point, he will have to.
"There's all kinds of debris (in the creek)," Hernandez said. "There's branches, trash..."
The creek has become something of a dumping ground; it's littered with plastic, old pipes, and even some large items like air mattresses.
It's also overgrown with dense brush, which has Hernandez and his neighbors worried about the potential for flooding.
"What happens when you clog up a drain? Whatever's behind it floods. And it's just gonna multiply the effect that it's gonna have with a strong rain."
