CORPUS CHRISTI - A man who shot and killed his neighbors dog this morning says he had no choice but to defend himself. Police and Animal Control are now investigating.
Charles Curtis Sr says he was doing some yard work in front of his house on Dawn Breeze Drive when his neighbor's dog wandered into his yard.
Curtis said he felt threatened, and thought the dog was about to attack, so he shot it. He says it wasn't the first time he'd told the owner to keep her dog out of his yard.
"I don't want to be afraid to go out in my yard and some dog gonna come up and attack me for no reason because. I ain't done nothing to no dog. I ain't ever threw a rock at no dog and ain't never yelled at no dog around here," Curtis told us.
He does admit to having a fear of dogs, all because he was attacked by a German shepherd during the Vietnam war and says he never got over it.
