Need to Know: Buc Days Illuminated Night Parade

CORPUS CHRISTI - The highly-anticipated Buc Days Illuminated Night Parade is tomorrow, May 4th at 8 pm. The parade has been a tradition since 1938 and draws around 145,000 people to downtown Corpus Christi every year.

The route this year starts on Leopard St. across from Buc Stadium and continues down Leopard St. to Lower Broadway, turns onto Schatzell St. and finishes along Shoreline Blvd. at Park Avenue near the Buc Days Festival Carnival.

The annual event includes illuminated floats, bands, horses and hundreds of parade participants. While Corpus Christi Police want everyone to have a good time, they also want people to keep a few things in mind.

  • At 3 pm the Leopard St. exit on Crosstown will close
  • At 6 pm the parade route will close to traffic
  • Keep alcohol consumption to a tolerable amount
  • Bring your own trash bag
  • If you're renting a portable restroom, make sure it isn't in the right of way
  • Don't bring fireworks or anything that makes a popping noise
  • Don't bring toy weapons
  • Be mindful of private property along the route
  • Don't stand in the intersections along the route in case of emergency
