The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History will be hosting a Thanksgiving Memorial Pow Wow on Saturday, November 28, 2009. The activities will begin at 12 p.m. that day with the Pow Wow Grand Entry, and the Native American dances will continue until 4 p.m.
The inter-tribal event is sponsored by the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas and will feature dancers and musicians from Apache, Navajo, Ponca, Comanche and other Native American groups. Museum officials say this is a wonderful opportunity for museum visitors to experience first hand the American Indian Cultures of South Texas.
The Thanksgiving Memorial Pow Wow will feature two drum groups with more than 40 dancers representing the different dancing styles of the Native American groups. Some of the dances are ceremonial in nature while others help provide a colorful presentation of the native spirit of the people they represent.
The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History is located at 1900 N. Chaparral Street. For more information, please contact the Museum at 361-826-4667.
