CORPUS CHRISTI - Corpus Christi police made an arrest in connection to a murder over the weekend. Police say evidence and witness statements lead them to 18-year old Mark Anthony Ramirez.
Officers say a family member found 20-year old Michael Sandoval dead inside a garage apartment on Wynwood drive Sunday. The medical examiner told us today that Sandoval was beaten to death, with fatal injuries to his face and skull.
His family released this statement to 6 News this afternoon. "His (Ramirez's) arrest will never bring Michael back, but we are relieved to know he is off the streets and wont be able to hurt anyone else. We lost an amazing person, who left behind two beautiful daughters, they will never get to know who their dad was. Thank you to CCPD for the hard work and time you've put into this case. Our Michael can finally be laid to rest now, and our family can have some type of closure."
If you would like to donate to Michael's family for funeral expenses or to his children, there is an account open at the Navy Army Bank account #1871167 under the name of Gabriel Villarreal.
