Murder Trial Begins For Man Accused of Shooting Neighbor in Face

CORPUS CHRISTI -- Trial starts today for a man accused of shooting his neighbor in the face back in December of 2011.

Bradley Fikes, 42, is charged with the murder of Robert Welch, 43. Fikes was arrested after investigators say he admitted to shooting Welch with a pistol during an argument at Welch's home in the Bluntzer area.

Several hours later Nueces County deputies were told Fikes was hiding in his girlfriend's car about 5 miles away from the crime scene.

The deputies are expected to testify this afternoon.
