CORPUS CHRISTI - A motorcyclist had part of his foot ripped off in a rear-end crash at Yorktown and Bay Drive this afternoon.
Witnesses told police the 35-year-old rider was speeding when he hit the back of a van getting ready to turn left.
One of the rider's feet got tangled up in the back wheel, causing significant injuries.
"Medics gathered up the pieces and they transported them with him over to Spohn Memorial where they're going to try and do some reconstructive surgery," said Lt. Tim Brown of the Corpus Christi Police Department.
The driver of the van was not injured. Officers say the rider will be cited for driving too fast and causing the crash.
