CORPUS CHRISTI -- Corpus Christi police are talking to a person of interest in connection to a hit and run accident this past weekend that left a teen critically injured.
After working two shifts at Cici's Pizza on Ayers, 17-year old Christian Carrillo was walking home early Sunday morning when a driver hit him and took off.
Now, instead of playing pranks and teasing him mom, something Christian's known for, he's a prisoner to the tubes and equipment helping to keep him alive.
His mother, Misty Taylor, said, "It feels like I was dreaming. It feels like I was in a dream state and I'm ready to wake up cause how can my life...his life...is never going to be the same."
Police say they talked to a person of interest in this case and expect to make an arrest soon which brings the family a little relief.
Misty said, "I don't want another person to get hit and left to die on the side of the road. It's pretty cowardly."
But Misty says justice will be served and she tries to stay focused on her son and his recovery.
She says thanks to prayers from the community, Christian is improving.
For example, he took a couple of breaths on his own and moved his feet today.
Misty said, "Strangers have come up and wanted to just pray and meet my son."
