CORPUS CHRISTI - The mother of the Haas Middle School student who passed away from an ant bite allergy is speaking out and says she's already retained Thomas J. Henry as her attorney.
Cameron Espinosa's mom, Josephine Limon, said her "son was an amazing boy," and he had many friends at school because he was an "amazing kid."
She also said that he wanted to play football in college while studying medicine. He had already started looking for a recruiter to help with that process.
When she talked about whether his death could have been prevented, she said "more trained personnel" or possibly an EpiPen could have saved him.
Cameron's parents visited his CC Tigers youth football teammate Monday afternoon. The team said they plan on retiring his #66 jersey in his honor.
Funeral services for Cameron Espinosa are scheduled for this week. A visitation will be at Seaside Chapel at 3 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral mass is Thursday morning at Corpus Christi Cathedral followed immediately by burial at Seaside Memorial Park.
