CORPUS CHRISTI - The man accused of opening fire inside the Cadillac Bar on Ayers last year has avoided a trial by pleading guilty to murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a firearms charge.
Jose Moreno, 30, received a sentence of 25 years in prison in exchange for his guilty plea.
According to police, Moreno got into a fight inside the bar on June 29, 2012. The victim, also named Jose Moreno, was shot twice in the chest and died. Another man was shot in the leg.
Police caught up with the shooter a little over a week later during a traffic stop. His girlfriend and a one year old child were in the car with him. The girlfriend was charged for helping Moreno avoid being arrested since the murder.
